Bombay street food in Delhi @ Shiv Sagar

Shiv Sagar is not new for Mumbai , established and standing tall since 1981, they have come up with their new outlet at the heart of the city, “Janpath”. A pure vegetarian restaurant , serves Mumbai street food along with North Indian and  Indo-Chinese dishes. We planned for a week day to avoid the rush , but found the place jam packed with the shoppers  taking a hault after their shopping in CP.  As the place is surrounded by many offices , office goers also drop in for a quick bites.

LET ME HAVE MY MEAL

After pursuing the huge option in the menu, we ordered for Sev-Puri, Vada –Pao, Shiv Sagar Sandwich, Pao-Bhaji, Chilli Idli, and  Tawa Pulao .  We ordered for fresh juice while waiting for the food .  Ordered for Carrot juice and Maara Maari Juice ( a mix of Pineapple and Sweet lime). Juice was freshly squeezed and without any artificial sweetener.
Sev-Puri was quite filling with spicy and tangy flavour. It tickled our taste buds. Vada Pao was exactly what I had in Mumbai . We were told that they import pao(s) from Mumbai . It was served in a traditional way with dry spices and fried chilli along with green chutney.  Chilli Idli is something to talk about.  A very innovative dish with fried idli cubes , tossed with different flavours and garnished with spring onions. Sandwich was stuffed with Potato slices, finely chopped onions, cheese, layer of green chutney  and chat masala. It was served with garlic and mint chutney.  Bhaji in Pao-bhaji was mild and and pao was soft and fresh. Tawa Pulao was served with creamy raita with finely chopped onions and chillies.

SWEET TOOTH

After having a lavish meal of dishes mentioned above , we preferred to have a glass of Strawberry shake. Shake was good with fresh strawberries but I personally will prefer to have their fresh juices.

Since we were new to the place, got these samples of fresh juices.
